However the most powerful man in Formula One is off course Bernie Ecclestone! The 82 year old has been recently announced as the top of the Sport’s Rich List with a fortune worth £6.2 billion. Bernie is the richest person in F1 and also the most powerful.
Did you know he was once a former car salesman and was an unsuccessful driver in the 1950’s. He then turned his interest to the business side of the sport. He now controls a sport that is reported to have annual revenue of $1.7 billion and more than 500 million TV Viewers worldwide. Nowadays Ecclestone still owns 5.3% of F1 and 8.5% under control of Bambino Trust for his daughters Tamara and Petra.
Following behind Ecclestone is Dietrich Mateschitz the Owner of Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso. He is estimated to have a worth of $4.755 million. His Formula One team was built from the ground up and is now the most competitive. The team is now worth over $400 million.
